Located in North Phoenix at the edge of the Sonoran Preserve, Espiritu Loci designed a site plan and initial concepts for the Sonoran Desert Center Campus. The site plan was designed focusing on three items: a City of Phoenix Library, the Sonoran Desert Center, and a Sonoran Preserve Trailhead. The City of Phoenix Library was sited at the crest of a hill, providing visitors with breathtaking sunset views, and its location is highly visible from the Sonoran Parkway. The Sonoran Desert Center was placed on a ridge overlooking a densely vegetated wash. The Sonoran Preserve Trailhead was placed near the interpretive center and includes restrooms, picnic areas, and equestrian parking. The site plan also incorporated space for future uses and growth.
