The Marley Park Community Association asked Espiritu Loci to create a set of guidelines that would allow residents to creatively express themselves through their home while keeping within the guidelines and vision for the community. The document was to be friendly, easy-to-use and organized such that residents of Marley Park could quickly find the information they needed. This was accomplished by creating two documents.
The first document, “A Guide for Personalizing Your Home,” contained all the information a resident would need for making minor home modifications. This included provisions for modifications from outdoor art and gates to guidelines for landscaping. Since Marley Park is still a new community it was concluded that most residents would not yet be making major home modifications. All the requirements and processes for making major modifications were included in a second supplemental document. This document also included all the design review processes and regulations. We achieved our goal of creating a document that was friendly and easy-to-use by splitting the document into one covering minor modifications and one covering major modifications.
In addition to the first two documents we created a series of style sheets that assist residents with understanding their home’s architectural style and how to complement that style when modifying their home. |
